Spiritual Bhutan - I went on a 7-day solo trip arranged by Experience Tibet to this beautiful small country in the Himalayas, Bhutan. My 7-day trip was filled with so many wonderful places... read more to see spanning 4 districts (provinces) and because I made it clear on day one that I love being out in nature, my local guide fitted in hikes on different elevations in all the districts we visited and stayed in. Experience Tibet was in daily contact with my local guide to make sure everything was going well. My local guide, Tashi and driver, Demchoe looked after me very well and wished I could have stayed longer. This is my third time with Experience Tibet and will surely use them again in my future travels.

Amazing - Amazing. We got to see a lot of things. Each day was more interesting than the last. The first part in Lhasa and then in Shigatse were very interesting, and... read more we got to see a lot of monasteries. But my favourite part remains our discovery of the mountains and the base camp of Mount Everest.

Brilliant and Beautiful Bhutan! - 7 days Bhutan tour.
Wow! What an amazing tour! Bhutan is a beautiful country. I felt very at peace there and I really loved how the people are... read more so compassionate towards nature. If you like nature, this is definitely a trip for you. We saw so much in the time we were there. My favourite things were walking in nature, seeing the endangered black necked cranes and, of course, the hike to the Tiger’s Nest.
For those nervous about the hike to the Tiger’s Nest, it is not as challenging as you think it might be. I am of average fitness and I did it in 5 hours (including lunch and of course, exploring the monetary). My top tip is to get a stick (they sell them at the bottom). This helped me lots. I even managed to do it with a bruised toe! It’s worth it and the views up the top are stunning.
I am a regular customer with Experience Tibet and I ALWAYS find them to be professional, with quality customer service. I really enjoy their tour every time and so I recommend them to anyone wanting to travel to the places they offer.Sooz_in_China

Beijing 2024 @ExperienceTibet - We definitely had a great trip. It was easy and filled with amazing things to do each day. Our guide Jing was amazing and very professional. Thank you for... read more organising such a professional tour guide for us @ExperienceTibet. We experienced Beijing and all it's wonders. We went to all the major attractions, like the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City. The Temple of Heaven, The Summer Palace, Universal Sudios, etc. We enjoyed every part of the tour and for us it was just enough. Not to much each day and not to little. Just enough, so we could experience everything and learn something as we went along. We had no problems as everything was planned very well by @ExperienceTibet. This made it a lot easier to just enjoy the trip. The trip was also super affordable for everything we did. Whatever your budget @ExperienceTibet can make a plan for a dream trip. Thank you once again. I will most definitely plan my next trip through Experience Tibet again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Private Tour Packages to Tibet
1. What is the minimum group size for private tour packages to Tibet?
There is no formal minimum group size. You can book a private tour package as a couple, solo traveler, or small group. A private tour can accommodate anywhere from 1 to 6 people, depending on your preference and the type of experience you want. We have clients who prefer traveling alone with a guide, romantic couples seeking privacy, and small families or friends traveling together. The beauty of private tour packages is that they are designed for your group’s size and pace.
2. How much more do private tour packages cost compared to group tours?
Private tour packages typically cost 20-40% more than group tours, depending on group size and season. For example, a 4-Day Lhasa Holy City group tour starts from USD 486 per person, while a private version of the same itinerary would be approximately USD 650-750 per person for a couple (meaning less per person combined). For 3-4 travelers, private tours become significantly more cost-effective, sometimes matching or beating group tour pricing on a per-person basis.
The added cost reflects your dedicated guide, private vehicle, and the flexibility to customize your itinerary. For couples, the premium is often worth the romantic experience and complete control over your schedule.
3. Can I extend or shorten my private tour package once it has started?
Yes, absolutely. One of the key benefits of private tour packages is flexibility. If you’re enjoying a particular location, you can extend your stay there. If you prefer to move on faster, we can adjust. Extensions or reductions are arranged through your guide, who communicates with our office daily. Additional costs for extensions are calculated based on actual accommodation, vehicle, and meal expenses incurred.
4. What if I want to skip an attraction in my private tour package?
You have complete control over your itinerary. If you’re not interested in a particular monastery, lake, or attraction, simply let your guide know and we’ll rearrange your day. Maybe you’d prefer extra time hiking, visiting a local market, or resting at your hotel. Your private tour package is designed around your interests, not a preset schedule.
5. Can I upgrade hotels during my private tour package?
Yes. All private tour packages include 3-star hotel accommodation by default, but you can upgrade to 4-star hotels, boutique lodges, or luxury eco-resorts at any point. Upgrades are available in Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse, and other towns. Simply inform us during booking or discuss with your guide during the tour, and we’ll arrange the upgrade. The additional cost depends on the hotel you choose.
6. How do I communicate with my guide if something is not working?
Your guide carries a phone or satellite communicator and is available 24/7. If you have concerns about the pace, an activity, accommodation, or anything else, speak directly with your guide first. Your guide has authority to make on-the-spot adjustments. For more complex issues, your guide will connect you with our office in Lhasa during business hours. We also provide you with direct contact information for our Tibet Travel Specialist before your tour begins, so you can reach us anytime.
7. Are private tour packages better for couples?
Private tour packages are ideal for couples, though they suit all types of travelers. For couples, the benefits include romantic meals at scenic locations, sunrise viewings at Potala Palace or Everest Base Camp without crowds, the ability to set your own pace, and the intimacy of traveling with just your guide. Many couples use private tours for honeymoons, anniversaries, or special celebrations in Tibet.
That said, private tour packages are equally excellent for families, groups of friends, or solo travelers who prefer a more personalized experience.
8. What happens if someone gets altitude sickness on my private tour?
Your private tour package includes comprehensive travel insurance that covers altitude sickness. Your guide is trained in recognizing and managing altitude sickness symptoms and carries oxygen on board. If someone experiences serious altitude sickness, we can immediately adjust the itinerary to lower altitudes, add acclimatization days, or arrange medical evacuation if necessary.
Most private tour packages include 1-2 days in Lhasa (3,650m) at the beginning specifically for acclimatization before ascending higher. Your guide will advise you on hydration, pacing, and rest during the tour.
9. How far in advance should I book private tour packages?
We recommend booking private tour packages 4-6 weeks in advance to allow time for Tibet Travel Permit processing. During peak seasons (May-September), booking 8-12 weeks ahead is ideal. However, we can sometimes arrange private tour packages with shorter notice (2-3 weeks) depending on your itinerary and guide availability.
For tours requiring flight tickets (such as departures to/from Lhasa), earlier booking ensures better flight prices.
10. Can I combine different tours into one private tour package?
Yes. This is one of the greatest advantages of private tour packages. You can combine a Lhasa + Everest itinerary with a Ganden to Samye trek, or extend from Tibet into Nepal or Bhutan. You can also customize the exact routing and duration.
For example, a traveler might do:
- Days 1-3: Lhasa Holy City
- Days 4-7: Ganden to Samye Trek
- Days 8-10: Yamdrok Lake + Everest Base Camp
- Days 11-12: Return to Lhasa or drive to Nepal
All private tour packages can be built from scratch around your interests, timeline, and fitness level. Our Travel Specialists work with you to design a seamless multi-region itinerary.
