Begin your adventure in Lhasa, Tibet’s sacred capital, where three days of cultural immersion await. Marvel at the iconic Potala Palace, witness the spirited monk debates at Sera Monastery, and soak in the spiritual atmosphere of the Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. Heading west, the journey unfolds through the turquoise shores of Yamdrok Lake, the dramatic Karola Glacier, and the second city of Tibet, Shigatse, before a night under the stars at Everest Base Camp — one of the most breathtaking experiences on the planet.

The road then carries you deep into the remote wilderness of western Tibet, where few travelers ever venture. Here, the ancient clifftop palaces of the Guge Kingdom — a civilization that ruled for 700 years before mysteriously vanishing — rise from the desert landscape. Then comes the spiritual centrepiece of the entire journey: the three-day Kailash Kora, a sacred circuit around the world’s most revered mountain at over 5,000 meters, crossing the Drolma La Pass at 5,630m alongside pilgrims from across Asia.

The adventure concludes with a visit to the serene Lake Manasarovar, holy to four of the world’s great religions, before the long and scenic drive back to Lhasa through Kyirong and the high Tibetan Plateau. This is Tibet in its fullest expression — spiritual, wild, and utterly unforgettable. All Tibet Travel Permits and Kailash area permits are fully included.

Today’s hike will present a physical challenge as we make our way up to cross Droma La pass at an elevation of 5,630 meters. The 6km stone road begins with a gradual climb, however it becomes increasingly steep near the top. Allow around 4 hours to slowly and carefully hike uphill, taking breaks as needed. As we near the pass, we will see colorful prayer flags flapping in the wind and Tibetan pilgrims worshipping at the mountain’s highest point.

Once at Droma La, take time to admire the tremendous views before beginning the downhill trek. The descent includes sections of loose stones and occasional patches of ice, so caution is required. Follow the rocky trail down towards the turquoise waters of Lake Manasarovar in the valley below.

Further winding hills will lead us down to warmer temperatures under clearer skies. Finally, we will arrive at Dzutrulphuk Monastery nestled in the vast basin.
